Welcome to C&J Homestead.
Happy New Year.
Just like that, we are into 2026.
Another year, we celebrate how good God is and his blessings on our lives.
We enjoyed the Christmas season. It was quieter than usually, as family did not come in from out of town this year.
But it wasn’t quiet on the farm.
We welcomed two new calves. Maggie Moo & Dollop of Daisy had their babies right before Christmas.
With the arrivals of babies, it also means both cows are back in milk.
This is a busy time as we figure out what the babies need, make sure mamas are comfortable and I start milking twice a day for a while.
But, it also means, we are again enjoying the fresh dairy products we miss during our dry up months.
Clabber, yogurt, butter, cream, sour cream, cream cheese, and mozzarella!
There is nothing like it when it’s fresh.
Mozzarella must be made in double batches. One to enjoy, right away, and another to use throughout the week.
With calving season behind us, we now look to lambing season and garden planning.
As the new year kicks in to high gear, we must take time to stop and reflect. We carve out time for each other as husband and wife and as a family.
We must create a sacred place and time to talk to God and fellowship with Him.
When we prioritize the things that really matter, the reward is priceless.
Until next time,
Farmgirl Jo
